The designation W270 is a quality classification, describing a test method for determining microbial growth on materials in contact with water.
An accredited laboratory tests the shower hoses and issues a certificate if the test is conclusive.
This test guarantees enhanced protection against biofilm, reduction of bacteria and material odors, especially with hot water. This should in no way be compared to the ACS or KTW.
This additional W270 certification is increasingly requested by hotels, hospitals, retirement homes and municipalities.
Hoses with the designation W270 from Novotec are technically a generation ahead.
Why a non-return valve in a hand shower or a shower hose?
Quite simply, to allow serene use of water, the entire recovery system must comply with European standard EN1717. The EN 1717 standard informs us about the means and systems to be put in place within internal networks with the aim of anticipating direct or return pollution of drinking water. Thus, thanks to a non-return valve fitted in the shower head or the hose or better still thanks to a drain tap with non-return valve, a possible return of dirty water into the pipes is avoided. (see page 5) To avoid assembly errors, the insertion of the check valve, the regulator or the combination of the two will always be done on the valve side.
